The MR engine by Nissan is a whole family of straight-four car engines, all-aluminum, which have variable valve timing and are co-developed by Nissan and Renault. The MR20DE is the first engine that Nissan developed to replace the QR20DE. As an undersquare engine, it has a bore and stroke of 84mm x 90.1mm.

Initially, it was introduced in the Lafesta and Serena, as well as the Renault Samsung SM5. In 2006, It became a part of Renault’s lineup in the Clio III, where it produced 136 horsepower and is known as the M4R engine.
